Great place to begin

I found this to be an excellent overview of Orff media. When I was a brand new music teacher, it really helped me "learn to fish", so to speak. I've also trained with the author a few times as part of the NCAOSA. Not only is he a very good, clear writer, he's very kind. Doug has always been willing to sit and chat about ideas and help me out along the way.

A good surprise!

At first I was disappointed because I thought I was getting a book filled with lesson ideas, but as I read I became engrossed in the author's ability to transport the reader into a different time and place. I finished the book feeling very inspired, and it has influenced my teaching in a positive way.

great resource

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The author is a great writer, very engaging and inspiring with alot of helpful information for anyone working with elementary children. It really encourages you to stretch beyond your comfort level and try new ideas.
I always enjoy academic writing that is able to communicate a lot of valuable imformation without being dry. This certainly fits that description.
